SKIPTON & CRAVEN HISTORY SOCIETY

The Skipton & Craven History Society aims to encourage and develop in members an interest in all aspects of national, local and family history:

  1. By a series of fortnightly lectures, from October to April, on a variety of subjects.

  2. By visiting places of historical interest both within the Craven area and further afield.

  3. Through development of the SCHS website.

  4. Through occasional publications on various subjects produced by the Society.

  5. By encouraging members, who may be carrying out their own independent historical researches, to share these with the membership, either by means of short talks or by publishing their results in the Newsletter and/or on the SCHS website.

  6. By linking through the website with other history societies in Yorkshire to improve our knowledge and making our knowledge available to them in return.

  7. By encouraging members with specialist interests, e.g. Archaeology, to represent the Society in other specialist groups.

  8. By liaison with the Friends of Craven Museum and the Skipton Civic Society.
